1949 Cadillac series 62
The first all-new postwar Cadillacs arrived in 1948, sporting an aircraft-inspired look and the first tail fins on a Cadillac. Series 62 Cadillacs had a slightly shortened wheelbase, but the track width was increased by two inches, increasing interior room. the new Cadillacs were still powered by the same 346 CID flathead V8 used across the board since 1941, The new Cadillac OHV V8 was the big news for 1949, with minor trim differences otherwise.
It is believed that 55,643 Series 62 Cadillacs were produced in 1949 making good survivors like this example a good proposition.
This example has spent many years in a museum in the North Island before being purchased by the current owner’s family. The car was then recommissioned and registered for New Zealand roads aging in 2009. This is a smart example with lovely patina. Please contact us for further information and photos. Viewing is by appointment only in our North Canterbury based Motor House.
