“Classic Barn Find Land Rover”
Auction for this vehicle is being run on TRADEME https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/land-rover/series-2/listing/3757956189 . Registered new in New Zealand on the 7th of August 1962 this Land Rover has certainly had a busy working life. Like many early Land Rovers in New Zealand this example has spent its working days in service on a farm, it is believed in this particular case on a large property just out of Winton in Southland.
The beating British heart at some point has been removed from this Land Rover and the very common and popular transplant of a six cylinder Holden engine was carried out.
This is a fairly early example with the starter button on the firewall etc. Although this Land Rover has some fantastic patina it also has rust in the chassis cross members/outriggers and the engine has never been fired up since arriving at the Motor House.
This vehicle is being sold as a parts / End of life/ Restoration Project. Viewing is recommended before bidding.
With a restored S II selling at Auction in New Zealand only a few weeks ago for an eye watering $55,600 NZD it is clear that you would not overcapitalise if you were to embark on a restoration of this special vehicle.
