1972 Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet

“Life is a journey enjoy the ride”

Our client’s loss could be your gain as this fantastic summer beach racer has to be sold.
This is a project vehicle that has not been 100% completed but with our client having purchased another classic vehicle and with limited garaging we have been instructed to sell to the highest bidder !!
Sold new in South Africa in 1972 as a standard Volkswagen 1600, this vehicle spent 3 years there before being imported into New Zealand and being first registered here on the 3rd April 1975. In the 1990’s the car was converted into a cabriolet by “Volkswagen car conversions, Tops Off” in Christchurch. Fully certified this seems to have been a very well done conversion.
The vehicle had been in the same family for over 25 years before being sold to our client in 2021. Our client’s vision was to create a pared down, pure speedster for top down summer fun. The original bumpers have been removed but we do have them and they come with the car. The interior is fairly tidy but front carpets are not original and the intentions were to replace them. The front seats are also not original and our client was going to fit the car with some early Beetle seats along with an early style Beetle steering wheel. The hood is complete but is tired (please see photos) but let’s face it this is a car that you would only drive with the top down. Whether you want to do a Rachel Hunter with a Tip Top Ice Cream or just cruise the epic roads of New Zealand this summer, this is the vehicle for it. Due to our client wanting a quick sale this vehicle is being sold with a $1 reserve as a barn find/unfinished restoration project/parts vehicle .The car was serviced on the 22/4/2022 and is sold with the current WOF as an end of life vehicle. This Bug has huge potential or just enjoy it as is. Please note the vehicle is reading 13818 Miles I would guess at least second time around.
